Mandarin Kimchi – January 2022

Each month, The Korean Pantry will feature a new Kimchi, inspired by the seasons and our Chef’s passion for experimenting with textures and flavours.

“The Kimchi Collection is taking you this month to Jeju Island, an island situated south to the Korean peninsula. It’s the favourite place for Koreans on their honeymoon, as well as school trips. I visited it first during Spring 2012 and it’s one of my favourite places. The seafood is beautiful, the scenery exceptional. One of the island emblems is the Hallabong orange, a citrus akin to tangerine, albeit sweeter. And of course, Jeju families couldn’t pass on the opportunity of making kimchi using Hallabong’s beautiful juice! It’s impossible to find Hallabong in London, but we are lucky to have abundance of delicious mandarins from Spain.

Mandarin Kimchi is a refreshing kimchi, made without Korean chilli flakes but with the addition of fresh chilli slices for a gentle kick. It’s similar to White kimchi and is served with its accompanying broth, deliciously sweet and zesty. Kids friendly and containing less garlic than regular kimchi, it can be a good way to introduce kimchi to people reluctant to try.

As with our other versions, naturally made without any preservatives or additives, The Korean Pantry MANDARIN KIMCHI is unpasteurised and will develop loads of probiotics and prebiotics to support your gut health.

Storage : Keep the pouch refrigerated in an upright position or decant in an airtight container. Kimchi will keep for weeks when stored correctly. Usual shelf life is 8 weeks when you order online.

How does this work : Our monthly special kimchi is available to PRE-ORDER ONLY, and with a limited quantity. January’s Kimchi can be pre-ordered until January 5th. Dispatch around January 17th. Upon delivery, just pop the kimchi in your fridge and enjoy!
